Business Debit

Business debit refers to a payment card linked directly to a company’s current account, allowing authorised users to spend company funds without accessing credit.

Transactions are debited immediately or within one business day, making business debit cards a convenient and controlled way to pay for suppliers, travel, subscriptions, and day-to-day expenses.

They usually incur lower interchange fees than credit cards and can be issued to multiple employees with set limits or monitoring tools.

Example:

A UK limited company uses a Mastercard Business Debit card to pay £150 for office supplies. The funds are deducted directly from its business account and settled to the merchant’s acquirer.

Used in:

Corporate banking, expense management, and operational payments for SMEs and larger organisations.
